Management Team

Mark Messner became President and Chief Executive Officer of Summer Infant, Inc. in July 2016. Mr. Messner brings strong leadership and marketing experience in the juvenile products’ space to Summer Infant. Prior to joining Summer Infant, Mr. Messner was Chief Executive Officer of Artsana USA, Inc. (Chicco), a manufacturer of baby care products under the Chicco brand and subsidiary of Artsana S.p.A. In this role he oversaw all operations for the United States and Canada. Mr. Messner originally joined Artsana USA in 2003 as Vice President of Marketing & Product Development and served as Chief Operating Officer for three years before taking over as Chief Executive Officer in 2012. Mr. Messner began his career in 1991 at Graco Children’s Products, Inc. (now part of Newell Brands), where he held positions of increasing responsibility across marketing, product development and product design, including as Global Product Manager from 2001 until 2003. Mr. Messner received a B.S. from Millersville University.

Paul Francese joined Summer Infant in November 2018 as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Francese had previously served as the Summer Infant Chief Financial Officer between 2012 and 2014.

Prior to rejoining Summer Infant, he served as the Chief Financial Officer for Rain Carbon Inc., a global chemical company with annual sales of $2 billion, where he was responsible for worldwide accounting, finance and treasury operations. Mr. Francese also served as the Chief Financial Officer of OCI Enterprises, a global chemical and renewable energy company, between 2004 and 2012.

In addition, during his 35 year career, he has served in senior positions at Cannondale Bicycle, Pitney Bowes, Huffy, Litton Industries, United Technologies and General Electric. He has a record of building strong finance teams and has experience in refinancing of debt structures and implementing rapid continuous process improvements – resulting in competitive company cost structures.

Mr. Francese has an MBA from the University of New Haven, a BA from Rutgers University and is a graduate of the General Electric Financial Management Program.
